Helping animals has been a part of my life since I was a child – even today, I cannot walk past abandoned or injured animals without helping them.
When we traveled to Lombok to go surfing in September 2022, the plight of the stray dogs in particular left a lasting impression on me. As a tourist back then, it wasn’t easy to find help for injured or skinny dogs, so our vacation gradually became more and more about helping them.
The turning point came when I met a little puppy, who looked exactly as my former family Rosa, which was adopted from an international animal rescue organization. Fortunately, this little puppy already had a home.
But through that connection, I came to know the Shelter for Lombok Dogs and, during a visit there, met our Coco.
Her relocation to Austria led to a collaboration that continues until today.
Another, longer trip to Lombok in February 2023 had a particularly profound impact on me. The time I spent there, getting to know the street dogs over an extended period, showed me just how friendly, wonderful, and intelligent these animals are. For me, it became clear: I wanted to help them in a sustainable way.
Today, with Coco and Milla, we have two Lomdogs living with us.
